Top State Honor Bestowed on Matthew Anderson


Matthew Anderson was honored by the New York State Association of Homes and Services for the Aging at the annual Spring Training Institute and Exhibition held in Saratoga Springs.

Havana Jeans quietly slipped into town last week, but the store is making as big a statement as their fabulous denim. Seasoned retailers Eli and Sheryl Blit are delighted to have opened their third branch on Purchase Street. “We always loved the town and its sense of community, and now we’re getting such a warm welcome,” said Sheryl. “We always had the feeling we belonged in Rye.”

Sally Rogol Takes the Field
The City recently appointed Sally Rogol as Recreation Superintendent, replacing Bill Rodriguez who retired in July. The news wasn’t unexpected and it was well received because Rogol had served with distinction as Assistant Superintendent for close to 20 years.

On August 11, local leaders and members of the community gathered at the Jay Heritage Center in celebration of the news that the center has successfully matched and completed a $100,000 grant from the Save America’s Treasures program for the 1838 Peter Augustus Jay House.
