Winning has become contagious at Rye Country Day, and it all starts in the fall with the championship field hockey team and State finalist football squad.

Rye Swimmers Make a Splash at County and Conference Championships

If Rye seemed unusually quiet in early August, it was because everyone was in the pool.
Swimmers from up and down the county converged on Playland for the 83rd Westchester County Swimming Association Championships August 4-7. Rye Golf Club finished third overall, behind event winner Lake Isle and runner-up Greenburgh. RGC was led by the performance of their girls’ team, which placed first for the third consecutive year.

They’re Reeling Them In

An exciting variety of fish are being reeled in during these glorious last days of summer. Boating anglers attest that the Sound is bubbling with activity, while fishermen and fisherkids on land are catching plenty of snappers right off our docks.

Rye’s best once again put forth a dominant showing at the Empire State Games, held earlier this summer in Binghamton. Sixteen of the 21 local participants medaled.

Olympic Trials Fuel Feeley’s Fire

When the Olympics began earlier this month, Ryan Feeley found himself thousands of miles away from Beijing’s National Aquatic Center and the 1,500-meter freestyle race. But, if we’ve learned anything about the 16-year-old swimmer through his many accomplishments over the last few years, each meter of separation will serve to motivate Feeley to achieve even greater accolades.

Rye Racquet Goes Three For Three in MITL
For Rye Racquet Club, three is the winning number. The club’s Metropolitan Interclub Tennis League (MITL) women’s doubles teams won all three flight 1 divisions — A, B and C — in this year’s competition, repeating their 2005 record. The MITL, Metropolitan Interclub Tennis League, is over 40 years old and involves women’s doubles team competition among clubs throughout Westchester from May through June.

Storming back from a 13-0 deficit, the Poppy’s Café men’s A team pulled out all the stops and defeated Rollins 14-13 in the final game of the Championship series August 13.

BallBusters Repeat as Women’s Champs

The BallBusters allowed only three runs in the Women’s Softball League Championship series against A&F and won the title August 13  for the second year in a row.
In Game 1, after a six-inning pitching duel, the BallBusters scored the game-winning run in and won 1-0.
