Silver Lining History

The Jay Heritage Center chose a gorgeous night for its 25th Anniversary Soiree kickoff. Co-chairs Kingsley Rooney, Angie Nadler, Kathryn Schnaars, and Kelly Bakshi welcomed Committee members to the Jay Mansion for a tour and cocktails. Funds raised from the Soiree, to be held on October 21, will help continue work on the meadow and gardens at the historic Jay Estate.

Bryan and Joanna Sullivan of Glenview, Illinois, and Beth and David Conley of Rye, are excited to announce the engagement of their children, Rebecca Sullivan and Brendan Conley.

The future bride graduated from Williams College with a Bachelor of Physics in 2008. She teaches high school science in Brooklyn.

The future groom also graduated from Williams, from which he received a Bachelor of Economics and History in 2008. He currently works for a financial services firm in Manhattan.

The two currently reside in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. A July wedding is planned in Skaneateles, New York.

Karen Elizabeth Hogan and Andrew Thomas Ketchum were married October 29, 2016 at Fordham University Church. A reception followed at the Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan.

Both the bride and groom are 2009 Fordham University graduates. The bride is a senior editor at Sports Video Group in New York City. She is the daughter of Thomas and Susan Hogan of Hamilton, New Jersey.

The groom is a teacher at Cristo Rey Brooklyn High School. He is the son of Rick and Mary Beth Ketchum of Rye.

The couple lives in Brooklyn and will be honeymooning this summer in Barcelona and Nice.

Katie and Matthew Lyons of Duxbury, Mass., are thrilled to announce the arrival of a daughter, <<Cornelia Eileen Lyons>> on February 8, 2017. “Neely weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces, and was 19.75 inches. She joins big brother Leo.

Her maternal grandparents are John and Kathy Wood of Rye, who are overjoyed to welcome their first granddaughter. Roy and Marie Lyons, her paternal grandparents, live in Plymouth, Mass. and Cranston, R.I. Her proud great-grandfather is Ed Herbster of Rye. 

Kelly Whelan – Brad Larkin

Mr. and Mrs. William J. Whelan III of Rye are delighted to announce the engagement of their daughter, Kelly Susan Whelan, to Bradley David Larkin, son of Mrs. Anne Wilson Larkin of St. Louis, Missouri, and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Larkin of Glen Allen, Virginia.

The future bride is a graduate of Greenwich Academy and the University of Virginia, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History. Ms. Whelan received her law degree <cum laude> from Fordham University School of Law in 2016 and is an associate in the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP in New York City. Her father is a partner in the law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP and her mother is a legal expert for the Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations.

The future groom is a graduate of Deep Run High School in Glen Allen, Virginia, and the University of Virginia, from which he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Modern Studies and History. Following college, he worked for two years as an English teacher at Great Oaks Charter High School in Newark, New Jersey, while attending graduate school, and received a Master’s degree in Secondary English Education from New York University. Mr. Larkin currently works as a paralegal at the New York law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and plans to attend law school in the fall. His father is an officer at the Federal Reserve Bank in Richmond and his mother is a compliance manager for Wells Fargo Bank.

The couple met at college on a program abroad in Germany. A September wedding is planned at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye.
