After growing up in the Bronx, Trisch McCabe raised her son in Rye, where she loved cheering him on at all of his sports games.

Patricia (“Trisch”) Margaret McCabe, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, wife, and friend, passed away on Jan. 24, 2026. While words can never fully capture the sadness of her sudden passing, her loved ones will always remember and hold dear the wonderful times shared through the years.

Born Nov. 25, 1952, in the Bronx, N.Y., to Della Theresa (née Naughton, predeceased Oct. 31, 1994) and Richard James (“Buddy”) McCabe (predeceased Oct. 18, 1983), the first girl to join her three loving brothers, Richie, Johnny (predeceased Feb. 22, 1993), and James. Her beloved sister, Delia, would join the family 16 years later.

Trisch lived the typical Bronx family life, playing with her crew of girlfriends, getting teased by her brothers, and taking the 5 train on Dyre Ave. with her friends to Manhattan to explore the big city!

In the summers, the family retreated to their house on Peach Lake in North Salem, N.Y., where Trisch and her brothers attended dances at the neighborhood pavilion, swam at the beach, and hung out on the golf course watching sunsets.

Trisch attended Nativity of Our Blessed Lady elementary school. While the McCabe family home was two doors from the schoolyard on Secor Ave., she and her brothers were perpetually late, earning them the reprimand of the Sisters of Charity nuns who taught there. Following her years at Nativity, she attended St. Catherine’s all-girls high school.

After her high school graduation, Trisch worked as a secretary for Monsignor Donald Pryor, who was the Secretary of Education for the Archdiocese of New York (and later pastor at Church of the Resurrection in Rye).

Trisch was signed as a fashion model by the world-renowned Ford Modeling Agency at age 19 and attended the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), where she studied Fashion Merchandising. She then went on to work as a legal secretary for RCA Records at Rockefeller Center.

Following her time at RCA, Trisch served as a human resources administrator at Cherry Lane Music Publishing in Port Chester, N.Y.

Trisch married James Moran in 1984 at the beautiful waterfront setting of Davenport Beach Club in New Rochelle, N.Y., where they also resided as newlyweds. A few years later, Trisch and Jim bought a home in New Milford, Conn., fulfilling her dream of country living in a classic log cabin.

The remote location, snow, and cold convinced Trisch and Jim to move to Rye in 1994 to be closer to her mother and the rest of her immediate family. She remained a Rye resident for the next 15 years.

While living in Rye, Trisch worked for the City of Rye, first in the human resources department at Rye City Hall, then as a clerk in the membership department at Rye Golf Club. She later earned her real estate agent’s license and worked at Coldwell Banker in Rye.

After retiring from real estate, Trisch became a caretaker and companion for two elderly Westchester residents. She loved helping people and was an extremely patient, kind and empathetic person. Her soft-spoken voice brought a sense of comfort and peace to those she cared for.

Trisch’s family meant the world to her, especially her son, Liam McCabe-Moran (Rye High School ’07) and grandsons, Declan and Conor Moran.

Liam’s biggest fan, Trisch was a fixture at all his youth sports competitions, from Rye Little League and Resurrection CYO to his Rye High School Garnets and Manhattan College Jaspers basketball games.

Nothing, however, gave her greater joy than being “Grandmama” to her two grandchildren, Declan and Conor. Whether it was afternoons spent on the playgrounds of Rye Rec or trips to the viewing tower at Westchester Airport to see the planes, Trisch loved nothing more than time with her boys and cherished every minute she spent with them.

A wake was held Sunday, Feb. 1, at Graham Funeral Home, and a Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, at Church of the Resurrection.

Her loved ones will miss seeing Trisch every day, but her love and memory will remain forever in their hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, a cause Trisch herself supported and remained passionate about until her final days.
