James “Jim” Egan, the beloved son of James and Madeline Egan, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, and community service.
Born and raised in Providence, R.I., Jim later made his home in Rye, where he cherished raising his family for nearly 20 years.
A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s in civil engineering and a master’s degree in real estate development from Columbia University, Jim enjoyed a distinguished career in real estate investment and development that spanned more than three decades.
A devoted Catholic, Jim was a steadfast presence in his parish and volunteered as a CYO basketball coach. Jim treasured Sunday family dinners, loved his family deeply, and was known for his sharp, quick wit, and his warm, radiant smile.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Maryellen Egan; their two cherished children, Catherine and Patrick; his sister, Mary Pietrantozzi; his brother, John Egan; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim will be remembered for his unwavering faith, warmth, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Resurrection Church in Rye, followed by interment at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye.
