In a debate hosted by The Osborn, October 24, incumbent Judy Myers (D) and challenger Suzanna Keith (R) wasted little time making their points and distinguishing themselves from one another. The audience enjoyed a spirited discussion by the two candidates for the 7th District of the County Legislature.

At the City Council meeting October 19, Mayor Doug French updated the public on the recent vote by the Rye Town Park Commission requiring dogs to be leashed at all times. Both the Mayor and Councilman Joe Sack, the City’s two representatives on the six-member Commission, voted against the adoption of the rule, but were outvoted.

The City Planning Commission began proceedings in September to determine whether to approve a proposed subdivision of the 4.1-acre property located at 2 Forest Avenue. The primary issue that they must consider is the impact of the proposed development plan on the property’s wetland. 

New York City’s Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, one of the country’s leading cancer care hospitals, has received approval to build a $143 million outpatient facility in Harrison. A New York State panel ruled in favor of Memorial Sloan-Kettering (MS-K), despite strong objections from a group of Westchester and other Hudson Valley hospitals.
