Next year is a big anniversary for Lisa Murphy, her tenth as a real estate agent at Houlihan Lawrence. She and her husband, Paul, moved from Manhattan to Rye, with their then three young boys, in 1996. They bought a lovely home in Indian Village, and they’re “there for the duration.” The boys are now 19, 17, and 15.
Houlihan Lawrence and its agents came together for three significant walks in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month — and raised over $55,000 for the cause. In addition to walking, individual brokerage offices held multiple fundraising events leading up to the walks.
Jo Ellen Ashby, regional vice president of Weichert, Realtors, announced the Rye office was recognized for outstanding performance in October. The office led the region, which is comprised of offices throughout Orange, Westchester and Rockland counties, in resales, resale revenue units, and resale dollar volume.
If good things come in threes, then Rye is on a lucky streak. Two new home and design shops opened downtown the last few months, one on Purdy, the other on Purchase, and Nest Inspired Home, owned and operated by three women, (all of whom have three children) opened the first week in November.
When the new owners of Upper Crust Bagel, on the corner of Locust and Purchase, took over a few months ago, their first step was to give the place a good cleaning. “We power-washed everything,” says Joe Mancuso, a longtime Port Chester native who now lives down the road in Rye Brook. “Then we repainted and repaired so that our customers now feel the surroundings are as fresh as the bagels.”
For Rye dog owners looking for a nearby spot to let their furry friends run free, the Harrison Dog Park, located in Veteran’s Park at the end of Crystal Street, is a good and secure destination.
Rye resident Natalie Rosin considers herself something of a professional “middle man”. As a personal life coach and addiction specialist, she knows that responding to a loved one’s problems isn’t just difficult for the individual in question, but the entire family.
