I’ll Take Manhattan, Even if it Means a Makeover

Kendall Egan, who retired from the Rye City Board of Education after six years of service, was recognized at the Westchester Putnam School Board Association’s (WPSBA) 51st Annual Dinner Meeting.

It’s an old tale, man vs. beast, survival of the fittest, natural selection. I just never thought I would witness it in my own backyard, not to mention between my husband and a squirrel. Well, to be more accurate, a gang of squirrels.
The winning streak continued this season for Rye Racquet Club, which celebrated yet another triple sweep of the Metropolitan Interclub Tennis League (MITL).
The Rye High School varsity men’s coxed-four crew of Grant Janart, Tristan MacHale, Alex Martin, Jim Palmer, and coxswain Ally Sullivan finished the season 2nd in the C-Finals at the US Rowing Youth Nationals, 14th overall in the nation, and 8th based on time against 22 other boats.
On the Fourth of July, playing in the Red, White and Blue (and dressed appropriately for the occasion) tournament at Apawamis Club, Dr. Robert Gonzales-Molina, known as Gonzo by his friends, had his first-ever hole in one on the fifth hole.
Notwithstanding the wide array of local and sleep-away camps to choose from, Rye Recreation Day Camp has maintained a strong local presence and has been a great summer destination for Rye youth for over 60 years.
What springs to mind when you think of summer foods: seasonal produce that is at its best now, like berries, peppers, corn, and leafy greens? Or clam chowder, lobster rolls, French fries, and ice cream?
As the school year came to a close, Rye High students and teachers may have noticed something odd about the senior class: about 50 seniors were missing from it.
