The Rye Youth Council is holding its 24th Annual Gala January 25 at Westchester Country Club.
The Rye Lions Club has been hard at work and celebrating in recent weeks. At their Charter Night Dinner, held November 22 at American Yacht Club, they honored Sandy Samberg, recipient of the 2013 James A. and Marian M. Shea Community Service Award.
“Everyone can be great, because anyone can serve,” Martin Luther King Jr. once wrote. The Volunteer Center of United Way encourages individuals and families to pay tribute to Dr. King by giving back and making an impact in our local communities on the MLK Day of Service, Saturday, January 18.
Last month, Linking Handlebars, a nonprofit started by Rye High School students, was pleased to donate 60 new or gently used bicycles to needy youth at the Don Bosco Center in Port Chester.
Garrett Chapman recently received academic honors from The University of Richmond, making the Dean’s List for the fall semester.
Two new police officers have been appointed to the City of Rye Police Department.
