The Osborn community gathered last month to celebrate the visionary leadership and accomplishments of its retiring CEO, Mark R. Zwerger. The gala event, aptly named, “The Light up the Sky Soirée,” drew over 200 people — from residents and their families to business partners to neighbors and friends — for cocktails, dinner, dancing, and multiple tributes to Mr. Zwerger. His 27-year tenure initiated a dramatic turnaround for the venerable institution in the 1990s and led to an extensive expansion turning it into a 21st-century leader, providing the highest levels of care and residential services for elders.
To commemorate these accomplishments, the landmark tower on The Osborn’s 56-acre Rye campus was renamed the Mark R. Zwerger Tower.
The Soirée included a silent auction and dinner dance. Proceeds raised will go to The Fund in Honor of Mark R. Zwerger, enabling The Osborn to continue his legacy programs, including: The Osborn Scholarship Fund, Employee Enrichment, Campus Beautification, Arts at The Osborn, Lifelong Learning, Technology Improvements, Dementia Care Services, and Clinical Care Resources.
The event was supported by many local businesses and longtime partners of The Osborn, including A Tavola, Arcade Bookstore, Carpet Trends, Customer’s Bank, Greene Willow, Keating Electric, L & M Company, Patisserie Salzburg, Ruby’s Oyster Bar, WestMed, and Wine at Five.
