Connor Maloney received the 6th annual Ryan Adamson Sportsmanship Award at a special ceremony at Disbrow Park June 8, right before the major league Championship Game. Maloney, a student at Rye Middle School and player for The Braves, was chosen as the player who best exemplified the courage, sportsmanship, and heart that Ryan Adamson demonstrated during his years in Little League and Babe Ruth. Ryan died tragically at the age of 15.
“While players and sometimes coaches can get caught up with wins and losses, at the end of the day, it’s about playing hard, giving 100 percent, and having respect for your teammates, coaches, and umpires,” said Rye Little League board member Myles Lavelle. “I had the pleasure of coaching Connor and he is the epitome of the perfect teammate — and a great kid.”
