Hundreds of parents, educators, and community members came out for the Rye
Youth Council’s “Help Helps” Soiree April 27 to support the nonprofit’s essential
services.
Guests gained a greater awareness of how the organization’s programs help kids
build resilience and inner strength, as well as assist in the early detection of mental
health challenges and disorders and prompt intervention and care.
The evening’s honoree was Kim O’Connor, a licensed clinical social worker who
served on the RYC board for many years and remains an active advisor and
advocate for youth mental health. She received a Commendation during the event
from State Senator Shelley Mayer and written Proclamations from Assemblyman
Steve Otis and Westchester County Legislator Catherine Parker.
The following day, the County declared April 28, 2023 Kim O’Connor Day and
displayed that honor on the County Center’s jumbotron.
