With new stewardship plans for the 23-acre Jay Estate in mind, the Jay Heritage Center’s Auxiliary group, the Preservationists, held not one but two events in January.
The first gathering, on January 15, was an Open House at the 1838 Mansion. Hosts Emma Hanratty and Caroline Wallach highlighted upcoming programs, including a new Hort Lunch for gardeners in February, and their ever-popular October fundraiser, The Zebra Soiree, which will be co-chaired by Elisabeth Casey and Keelin Cassin Pye.
The second event took place in the 1907 Carriage House on January 26. Architect Natan Bibliowicz, who together with his partner Carolyn Iu, is redesigning and transforming another historic New York treasure, Carnegie Hall, shared his passion for handcrafted beer. Guests sampled more than seven flights of brew from pilsners to IPAs to Bibliowicz’s own 4 Noses oatmeal stout.
Bibliowicz and Iu, both members of the Jay’s Advisory Board, have donated their expertise to help guide a strategic campus plan for the Jay buildings and landscape.
In addition to hosting a full calendar of family events, the Preservationists participate in unique garden and museum tours throughout the year. All proceeds from their efforts benefit a broad range of public educational programs in American History, Architecture, and Landscape at Rye’s foremost National Historic Landmark site.
