Church members Mike and Tiffany Callaway, who own and operate Club @800 Squash & Fitness in Rye Brook, started KinderClub400, and run the 45-minute sports and agility classes on Wednesdays in the Parish Hall. There, youngsters get to swing a squash racquet, kick a soccer ball, play floor hockey, run relay races, and more.
The children work on core skills and agility and coordination that will help them in all sports as they grow. The preschoolers also learn to take turns.
“It’s a lot of fun and really rewarding,” say the Callaways, parents of two young children, one of whom is in the program. The room is set up with different stations and children move quickly from one activity to the next.
On Thursdays, a Brava Dance Center professional runs a creative movement class, where youngsters use their imagination and pretend to be anything from magic seeds to airplanes. A new arts and crafts session will be added soon.
KinderClub400 runs through May and follows the Christ’s Church Nursery School calendar. There is a morning session for children who attend afternoon preschool and an afternoon session for morning students. Children bring their lunch.
