Fireworks weren’t the only loud blasts that rang out in Rye on the Fourth of July.
An allegedly drunk White Plains teenager flipped his car full of passengers and alcohol over, landing on its roof in a dangerous daytime scene that unfolded on Boston Post Road Friday, according to police.
Jamal Abdul Razak, 19, was driving a 2010 Acura MDX north on Boston Post Road, according to police, when he said he swerved to avoid running over an animal. In doing so, police said Razak hit the curb causing him to briefly struggle to control the vehicle before flipping it over.
The Acura vaulted into the air and ultimately landed on its roof in the southbound lane of the roadway at the Bradford Avenue intersection, authorities said.
When police arrived, they found Abdul Razak, of White Plains, and multiple passengers, between the ages of 18 and 19, outside of the vehicle.
Abdul Razak displayed signs of impairment, police said, and allegedly failed a physical field sobriety testing.
Images released by the police department show several half empty bottles of Tito’s vodka, an empty can of Surfside, an iced tea and vodka drink, and shooters that were allegedly retrieved from the vehicle.

Abdul Razak refused a breathalyzer test at police headquarters, according to police, and was placed under arrest.
He was charged with a DWI, reckless endangerment, both misdemeanors, and summons for operating in violation of restrictions, refusal to submit to a breathalyzer test, having an open container of alcohol, speed not reasonable and prudent, and failing to use a designated lane.
The passengers reported minor injuries and were taken to Westchester County Medical Center.
Abdul Razak was issued a desk appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Rye City Court on July 15.
