Raising Hope

A new initiative of the National Easting Disorders Association, “Feeding Hope,” is helping raise awareness and funding for research and education about the disease, as well as early detection and prevention.

A luncheon to benefit the Feeding Hope Fund will be held December 5 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Old Oaks Country Club in Purchase. For more information, email juliefinkelstein@mac.com or Patty Cozine at cozines@aol.com

An All Star Event

The Westchester All Stars Christmas Concert for Wounded Veterans will be held at the Tarrytown Music Hall December 6 at 7:30 p.m. Westchester’s greatest musicians will perform original holiday music. Proceeds from the event benefit two wounded veterans organizations: The Bob Woodruff Foundation and Veterans Adaptive Sports, Inc.

Back again this year to host are actors Tony Darrow and Paul Borghese of “The Sopranos,” “Goodfellas,” and “Analyze This” fame. New York Yankee legend and jazz guitarist Bernie Williams is among the performers. Bands ready to rock include Johnny Feds & Da Bluez Boyz, The Renovators, Stolen Moments and The Barnstormers.

The artists and celebrities are donating their performances and appearances. Westchester All Stars founder Bill Edwards decided to make the program an annual event after the success of last year’s concert.

Tax-deductible tickets range from $25 to $50. To purchase tickets and learn more about the project, visit westchesterallstarschristmas.com.

Music with a Purpose

The 11th annual Music for Parkinson’s concert will take place Sunday, December 8 at 3:30 p.m. at Rye Country Day School’s Dunn Performing Arts Center. Proceeds from the concert benefit research programs of the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.

Returning to the stage are The Attacca Quartet, an internationally acclaimed ensemble; clarinetist John Stine of Chappaqua, a Julliard graduate and member of the St. Thomas Chamber Music Players; and pianist Gena Raps, also a Julliard graduate and faculty member at The New School.

Music for Parkinson’s, a local volunteer group founded by Dr. David Eger, Ph.D. of White Plains, organizes the event, which will also include a poetry reading by award-winning poet Robin Morgan.

Guests are invited to a wine and cheese reception with the performers following the concert. To purchase tickets visit www.pdf.org/music or call 800-457-6676.
