Entering the bottom of the sixth, Rye’s baseball team had one hit and no runs, but a three-run inning was all the Garnets (12-5) needed for a 3-1 win Tuesday against Eastchester (7-7).

Senior Michael Talbott, who pitched a complete game with no earned runs, led off the sixth with a single. Senior Nolan Hutson was hit by a pitch, then another senior, Lucas London, drove them both in with a go-ahead double. Senior Jackson Pineault then singled to drive in London for Rye’s third and final run.

Pineault had a two-hit game, including the Garnets’ lone hit in the first five innings, which came on a single in the fourth.

After Rye took its first lead in the sixth, Talbott sat Eastchester’s final three batters down in order. The final out came on a three-pitch strikeout, Talbott’s fifth of the game.

The win was Rye’s fourth straight, and the second in the past five days against the Eagles, who the Garnets beat 14-3 on Friday.

Rye’s final two games of the regular season are Thursday and Saturday against Harrison (4-12).
