Currently in its 40th season, the American String Quartet will perform at Congregation Emanue-El on Sunday, March 6 at 4. The ensemble is recognized as one of the world’s finest ensembles and has spent decades honing the luxurious sound for which it is famous.
Formed in 1974, when its original members were students at the Julliard School, the American String Quartet was launched by winning both the Coleman Competition and the Naumburg Chamber Music Award the same year. Critics and colleagues hold the Quartet in high esteem and many of today’s leading artists and composers seek out the group for collaborations.
The concert will open with Haydn’s Quartet in F Minor, Op. 20, No. 5, followed by Mozart’s Quartet in D Minor K451 and Ravel’s Quartet in F Major.

Students are encouraged to attend and are admitted free of charge. Congregation Emanue-El is located at 2025 Westchester Avenue on the Rye/Harrison border.
