FURNITURE SHAREHOUSE is celebrating its fifth anniver- sary with a “Comforts of Home” Benefit Friday, October 26 at 6:30 p.m. at Larchmont Yacht Club.
The evening will feature Southern Comfort cocktails and comfort foods. A live/silent auction will include unique designer vignettes created with one- of-a- kind furniture pieces staged by prominent local designers.
Founded in 2007, Furniture Sharehouse helps families in need “make a house a home” by providing them with basic home furniture free of charge. “So many families right in our community can’t afford the ‘comforts of home’ that we often take for granted, like a bed to sleep on or a table to share a family meal,” says Kate Bialo, founder and Executive Director of Furniture Sharehouse. “The need is so great – we furnish eight to ten families per week, and our waiting list is six weeks long.” In the past five years, Furniture Sharehouse has provided over 27,000 items of free furniture directly into the homes of more than 5,400 people. Tickets to the benefit may be purchased on-line at furnituresharehouse.org.
