Cashie Egan was the 2014 honoree at San Miguel Academy’s 10th Annual Defying the Odds Dinner held October 23 at Westchester Country Club. The Academy, established in 2006, is a faith-based middle school for boys from underserved families. Egan was among the first to respond to Fr. Mark Connell’s call to establish an educational alternative in Newburgh, N.Y.
“Cashie is a wonderful role model for the students we serve,” said Connell, president of the Academy. “She reflects the core values of our school: faithfulness, honor, truthfulness, compassion, and self-governance.”
There are currently 68 boys studying at the Academy and 67 graduates are enrolled in the school’s Graduate Support Program.
