Shortly after the Twig Shop announced that it was closing by the end of July, two things happened: they had a burst in sales and their landlord told them he’d let them stay through the holidays.
“This wouldn’t have happened without loyal customers coming back and the generous support of our landlord, Paul Saracino,” said Lory Gambrill, longtime Twig member.
The Twig held a very successful outdoor furniture sale which may include that Outdoor dining set, in collaboration with the Furniture Sharehouse, on the grounds of the Rye Arts Center in late June. Business has been brisk in the shop all summer, as more tax-deductible donations of furniture and furnishings have come in and gone out.
Their dedicated group of about 30 active members is still committed to their mission of supporting the Port Chester-Rye-Rye Brook EMS, to whom over the years they’ve given over $200,000.
And when the time comes that Twig Antiques does close its retail location, members are already planning to continue with a pop-up shop.
The Twig continues to be a great gift to the community.
