Anjali Bakshi, a beacon of laughter and boundless courage, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on Sept. 15, in Rye Brook.

Born on July 18, 1968, in Mumbai, India, Anjali’s journey was one of resilience and joy, which touched the lives of all who knew her. She embraced the world with her infectious humor, unwavering optimism, and the bravery of a lioness.

Anjali’s childhood was spent in Buffalo, New York, where she attended Saint Mary’s School for the Deaf. Despite the challenges posed by Cerebral Palsy, she never allowed it to cast a shadow over her spirit. Instead, she chose to live her life with a childlike zest, always seeking fun, rooting for her Buffalo Bills and joking around with her family.

Family was the cornerstone of Anjali’s world. She is survived by her devoted brother, Vishal Bakshi, and her caring sister, Shabnam Richardson.

Anjali was predeceased by her loving parents, Neeta and Om Bakshi, who instilled in her the values of love and family that she carried throughout her life. Anjali’s heart held a special place for her gang of young male nephews – Alex, Andrew, Ben, Jai, Kyan, and Kas – who were the apple of her eye. Her presence in their lives was a source of unending fun and cherished memories.

Anjali’s interests were a colorful tapestry that mirrored her vibrant character. She was an ardent admirer of Garfield the cat, whose antics always brought a smile to her face. Her enthusiasm for Tiger Woods was matched only by her love for the color red.

Describing Anjali in a few words would be to say she was funny, optimistic, and courageous. Her humor was a gift that kept on giving, her optimism a light that never dimmed, and her courage a testament to her remarkable character.

Anjali’s journey was one of triumph over adversity, and the imprints of her footsteps will guide us as we navigate the paths of our own lives.

Anjali’s family is deeply grateful to the entire staff at Cerebral Palsy Westchester, who took exceptional care of Anjali. Thank you for giving her a life with dignity, purpose, and fun.

Anjali’s family would welcome donations to www.cpwwestchester.org in her honor.

The family will receive friends at the Graham Funeral Home on Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 4 p.m.-7 p.m.
