Ann Sadlier Dinger McKenna, of Rye, N.Y., passed away on September 29, 2023. She was 86.
Born in New York City, on August 9, 1937, she was the daughter of Angela (Naughton) and F. Sadlier Dinger. She grew up in Searingtown, N.Y. and graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Greenwich, class of 1955, and Rosemont College, class of 1959.
She went on to be a teacher in the East Meadow Schools in Westbury, N.Y. and worked as an editor for William H. Sadlier, Inc.
Ann and her beloved husband, William McKenna, raised their five children in New Rochelle, N.Y., where they lived for more than 50 years. They were married for 57 years; he died in 2020.
Mrs. McKenna is survived by her children: William McKenna (Catherine) of Yonkers, Kevin McKenna (Anne) of Yonkers, Katherine McKenna Watcke (Robert) of Southport, Conn., Virginia Bentley (Mark) of Fairfield, Conn., John McKenna of Yonkers, and her foster daughter, Kathy Meyer Desiderio (Robert) of Carolina Shores, N.C.
She is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Liam, Ginny Rose, Patrick Joseph, Siobhan, Thomas, Brian, Sean, Meghan, Brendon, Rachael, Colm, Amber, George, William, and Riley; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank Dinger (Beatrice) of Vero Beach, Fla., and a sister, Lauren McCauley (Arthur) of Norwalk, Conn. Her brother, William Dinger, predeceased her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Resurrection Church in Rye October 6 at 10 a.m.
