The Children’s Collective is collecting coats and jackets for its annual drive, starting November 5. “The calls from the shelters are coming in,” said Louise Sullivan, co-founder and Rye resident. “The need is huge and the shelters are nervous we won’t be giving them enough warm coats this fall.”
Â
Coats can be dropped off at participating schools and Dollar Cleaner, 142 Midland Avenue in Port Chester. Sorting will take place November 12-14. “Back by popular demand we will be sorting the evening of the 13th with cocktails,” said Sullivan.
Â
Point people are needed at the schools. “The more schools and point people, the greater number of children who will receive a warm coat,” Sullivan added.
