April McBroom Deen of Rye, N.Y., passed away peacefully on December 6, 2017 surrounded by her family and friends. She was 41 years old.
Born on February 24, 1976, in Amersfoort, Netherlands, she was the daughter of John and Connie Weir McBroom. After graduating from Randolph Air Force Base High School in 1994, she went on to Radford University, where she earned a BBA in Marketing and was a member of Sigma Kappa.
She was a fashion sales executive for Guess, Marithe + Francois Girbaud, Converse, and Tokyo 5 from 1998-2010 and, until last year, worked as a sales consultant.
In 2012, she married Adrian Deen and together they raised their two children, Alton and Elan. They survive her, as do her mother, Connie McBroom of Oakton, Va. and Rye; her father, Retired Major General John McBroom of San Antonio; her brother, Robert McBroom of Park City, Utah; and several nieces and nephews.
Recalling his wife, Mr. Adrian Dean said, “I lost my best friend. April was an amazing wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend, and human being. She fought a tenacious yearlong fight exactly to the day, and while the outcome wasn’t what we all hoped for, she won. I am awed by how many hearts she touched and inspired.”
A Memorial Service was held December 11 at Rye Presbyterian Church. Donation in April Deen’s memory may be made to Soul Ryeders, (www.soulryeders.org).
