Cabinet of Curiosities: Tokens of Affection
During the month of February, the Square House Museum is showcasing a mini-exhibit, “Tokens of Affection,” part of the Cabinet of Curiosity Series. Featuring vintage Valentine cards, handwritten letters, and small keepsakes like lockets and charms from the museum’s collection, this exhibit highlights the timeless tradition of expressing love and admiration through meaningful, heartfelt objects.

Guided Tours of the Square House
The Square House Museum is hosting guided tours every Saturday in February at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Tours are free for museum members and include access to the “Tokens of Affection” exhibit. Non-members are encouraged to attend, learn more about the Rye Historical Society, and consider making a donation to support the museum’s programs and activities.

Celebrate the Arts
Light-up Valentine’s Cards
Students ages 9-12 are invited to make unique valentines with collage and markers. After decorating, they will learn how to use electrical tape, batteries, and LED lights to light up their creation. All supplies are included.

Ms. Bird’s Children’s Lit
In partnership with the Rye Free Reading Room, the Bird Homestead and Meeting House Conservancy is hosting Sunday morning children’s literature programs. Ms. Doris Bird, a member of the Bird family, served as the children’s librarian at the Rye Free Reading Room for over 40 years. This program brings her love of children’s literature to Rye families every week, on Sundays at 10 a.m. at the Rye Free Reading Room. The theme on Feb. 8 is “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” and Feb. 15 is a Valentine’s Day theme. The program runs until Feb. 15.

Unseen Photographs of Rock & Roll Legends
The Rye Arts Center is proud to unveil the Unseen Photographs of Rock & Roll Legends exhibition, featuring works from The Lost Negatives Project, an extraordinary collection of Michael Friedman’s rediscovered works, featuring candid images of Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, The Band, and other legendary artists during their prime from 1968 to 1973. Michael Friedman, a music manager and producer who worked alongside rock’s greatest names in the 1960s and ’70s, carried a Pentax camera as a quiet observer of a burgeoning cultural revolution. The exhibition will run until Feb. 15.

Restore Parent Groups — Find Strength in Community
Rye Youth Council’s Restore parent groups will meet biweekly beginning the week of Tuesday, Feb. 11. Participants can choose from meetings on Tuesdays from 6-7 p.m. at Rye Presbyterian Church or Thursdays 12-1 p.m. via Zoom. Each week’s meeting topics will be decided based on what parents/guardians are experiencing and want to discuss. Topics may include sibling rivalry, emotional regulation, managing stress, and implementing effective consequences. Parent groups are facilitated by RYC Restore clinical professionals. Mid-Winter Recess Camps
Rye Recreation is hosting a variety of camps for children of all ages during the mid-winter break, Feb. 18-21. Camps cover a wide range of interests, from art to STEM and sports. Dates and times vary. Visit the Rye Recreation website for more information and to register.

Unlock the Leader in You — Middle School Vacation Camp
Middle school students are invited to join Rye Youth Council for three mornings of active play, interactive games, and leadership skill-building. This camp will help students unlock their leadership potential. The camp will meet on Feb 18-20, 10 a.m.-noon at the Wainwright House. Register on ryeyouthcouncil.org
