Annual Spring Luncheon and Boutique

The Rye Historical Society will host its annual luncheon and boutique on May 8 at Shenorock Shore Club. The boutique opens at 10 a.m. and the luncheon begins at noon. This event features a special guest, New York Times bestselling author Lauren Willig, to discuss her book, “The Girl from Greenwich Street.” Tickets are available now by visiting givebutter.com/RHS2025 or calling 914.967.7588.

Survival Strategies of the Mink

On May 4, 2-3:30 p.m., Edith Read Wildlife Sanctuary’s naturalist will lead a program to educate visitors on minks. Minks are elusive carnivores that live near waterways throughout New York State. This program meets at the Visitor Center.

Celebrate the Arts

Nature Drawing

The Bird Homestead and Meeting House Conservancy is hosting drop-in nature drawing classes on Thursdays from 10 a.m.-noon from April 10 to June 26. This program honors the work of Alice Bird Erikson (1903-1994), a naturalist, illustrator, and member of the Bird Family who called these properties home.

Rye Rocks Concert: Birddog

The Spring Rye Rocks Concert Series at Recreation Park Amphitheater kicks off on May 2 at 6 p.m. The first concert features Birddog, with the Melt Mobile Food Truck available for refreshments. Picnics are welcome. These performances are great for all ages.

The Osborn Presents Fiona Davis

The Osborn will host New York Times bestselling author Fiona Davis discussing her latest book, “The Stolen Queen,” on May 8, 7–8:30 p.m. Free and open to the public, this WellSpring Series event will take place in The Osborn’s Auditorium at 101 Theall Road. Fiona Davis’s novel “The Stolen Queen” is set in 1978 at the Met Museum, and tells the story of a curator in the Egyptian Art Collection who unwillingly teams up with a Met Gala assistant to track down a stolen artifact. The hunt takes them from New York City’s glamorous “Party of the Year” to the desolate Valley of the Kings in Egypt. For more information, please visit www.theosborn.org/events. Studio 51

On Thursday, May 15 at 6 p.m., the Rye Arts Center will host its biggest party of the year at The Capitol Theatre. This year’s party will be bigger than ever, expanding into the main theater of The Cap and transforming this iconic venue into an exclusive concert and lounge experience inspired by the iconic Studio 54. The event features NFL Network stars Ian Rapoport and Kyle Brandt as Masters of Ceremony, and entertainment from the ’80s cover band Rubix Kube.

Master Your Run

Master Your Run: Training Strategies for All Levels is an interactive, discussion-based workshop led by Brian McCarthy of Victory Athletic. This conversation, at the Wainwright House on May 1, 7-9 p.m., will cover topics including reasons for running, distance vs. sprinting, fitness vs. competition, beginner and experienced running journeys, form, endurance, and injury prevention.

Cost: $25/member, $30/nonmember

Spring Cleanup

The Town of Rye has organized a multi-municipality cleanup on May 3, 9-11 a.m., inviting residents to join neighbors in local green spaces. The City of Rye location is the Rye Nature Center where volunteers will help remove invasive plant species and plant native pollinator plants. Volunteers are welcome to attend at any of the participating sites. For more details and to sign up, visit www.townofrye.gov.

Midland School Fair

This year’s Fair will take place May 3, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Midland Elementary School. This event is rain or shine. It is a time to celebrate the students’ hard work and dedication to learning over the ’24-’25 school year. Families are invited to come by and jump on inflatables, ride a shark, eat lunch, play sports, enjoy carnival food and games, win prizes, and more.

Let’s Go Trivia

On May 3, 6:30-8 p.m., the Rye Recreation Center will host a fun night of trivia, laughter, and friendly competition. Teams of up to six people are encouraged to come test their knowledge with dynamic host Garry Leavy. The evening includes 90 minutes of brain-teasing questions, challenges, and nonstop entertainment. It will be a memorable showdown. Register with Community Pass on ryeny.gov.

Green Cocktails and Conversation

Rye Sustainability Foundation is hosting a special event on May 8, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Rye Free Reading Room to celebrate Rye’s environmental progress. Residents are invited to join for this inspiring evening highlighting local sustainability efforts, including a video showcase of projects from Rye organizations and the annual Environmental Leadership awards. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served. RSVP at ryesustainability.com.

Half Marathon and 5K

The SOUL RYEDERS Half Marathon and 5K race is on May 18. The start time of the half marathon is 7:30 a.m. and the 5K is 7:45 a.m. The half marathon is a run-only event for those aged 12 years and older. The 5K is a run/walk event open to all ages and abilities. The courses run through the City of Rye and the Village of Port Chester (half marathon only) with the Long Island Sound and Playland Park as backdrops. SOUL RYEDERS supports individuals and families to create a connected community of awareness and honor those affected by cancer.
