Laura Fink, Vice President Social Media Strategy and Small Business Saturday at American Express OPEN, is the featured speaker at the Rye Chamber of Commerce’s luncheon meeting at Wainwright House June 13 at noon.
For the past two years, she has played a critical role in elevating the OPEN brand by developing the strategy and implementing the ideas on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Using her passion for community-based marketing, Fink and her team support OPEN’s mission of helping small businesses do more business through a number of innovative social programs like Big Break for Small Business, the first ever B2B partnership with Facebook, aimed to teach business owners how to run their business using social media.
Under her leadership, the first annual Small Business Saturday launched in 2010 and expanded in year 2 with an in-depth set of digital resources for small businesses and partnerships with FedEx, Verizon, and other companies. Through her efforts, Fink was integral in mobilizing more than 100 million consumers to “shop small” on Small Business Saturday. She has been a valuable member of the American Express marketing team since 1999.
Prior to her work with American Express, Fink honed her finance acumen working at Goldman Sachs. She took off two years from American Express, in 2006–2007, and joined the World Poker Tour and World Series of Poker as a professional player. She also holds an MBA from Columbia Business School.
