Tulane freshman Matt Kligerman (RHS Class of 2013) won the Louisiana State 2014 Golden Gloves boxing championship in the 165-pound open class division in April.
Tulane freshman Matt Kligerman (RHS Class of 2013) won the Louisiana State 2014 Golden Gloves boxing championship in the 165-pound open class division in April. With this win, he advanced to the mid-south regional Golden Gloves tournament in Little Rock, Arkansas, which included Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
Matt reached the regional final, where he lost a close decision to the No. 2 ranked amateur in the country in his weight class.
Last year, Matt was a semifinalist in the New York Golden Gloves novice division. When back in New York, he trains with former welterweight champion Larry Barnes out of the Dole Center in Mount Vernon.
