Last Saturday morning, a man walked into Webster Bank on Purchase Street and demanded cash from the clerk. He left with an undisclosed amount. Minutes later, County Police and K-9 dogs joined Rye Police in the search for the suspect, around 6 feet tall, who was wearing a gray Yankees hat and sunglasses and dressed in a white long-sleeve shirt and track pants.

Reporters on the scene were not told how much money was taken, only that the suspect did not display a weapon in the bank. What we do know is that a dye pack was in some of the bills, which permanently marks them red. Traces of the dye were on the street on the corner of Purdy Avenue and the entrance to the parking lot behind Webster.
The police investigation is ongoing in the August 20 robbery.
