Rye resident Natalie Rosin considers herself something of a professional “middle man”. As a personal life coach and addiction specialist, she knows that responding to a loved one’s problems isn’t just difficult for the individual in question, but the entire family.
In WAVES (Working Attitudes Values Esteem Self), her private practice, Ms. Rosin coaches families through problems ranging from homework woes to cancer, including addiction/substance abuse, depression, eating disorders, and severe stress, anxiety, or anger.
Ms. Rosin sees denial as a major roadblock, and assists families in accepting that there is a problem no matter what they do or say. She works with them on an action plan.
“I’m not a therapist, I’m a coach,” said Ms. Rosin. “I help you make decisions so you can move forward and not stay stuck.”
Ms. Rosen works with all ages, and, in addition to her private practice, provides counseling at Four Winds Hospital. She also runs group program/workshops.
“With familes, I’m the advocate for the adolescent mostly,” said Ms. Rosin. “What a young person says to me is confidential, unless they are harming themselves. The key, though, is that I’m there to help open up the lines of communication.”
