A veritable explosion of talent was on display at the Rye Neck Middle School Science and Technology Fair March 22.
Principal Eric Lutinski was happy to report that, “This was our largest group ever. We had a strong participation from grades 6 and 7, as well as eighth graders.”
Gold medal winners are heading to the Tri-County Science and Technology Fair April 21 at White Plains High School.
Some 70 students, whose projects were judged primarily on their creative ability and scientific thought, showcased findings. Young scientists experimented and reached conclusions in an amazing variety of topics — sound waves, crystal growth, children’s learning styles, architecture, and hamster mazes.
“This is the most enthusiasm I’ve seen at the fair,” said Science Department Chair Raymond Loverso. “It’s a testament to the dedication of teachers and parents, as well as the students.”
Gold and silver medals were awarded to eighth graders Connor Sexton, Mike Wong, Sabrina Albanese, Yui Kakegawa, Tom Collins, Matt Aber, Nicholas Vallejos, Bruno Goncalves, and Ed Gibbs; seventh graders Michael Quartararo, Robby Alter, Ben Styler, Isaak Meier, and Nathanael Langlois; and sixth graders Lindsey Sexton, Beatrix Cress, and Griffin Wollowitz (Shown in above photo).
