A Bronx woman was arrested for illegally writing nearly $10,000 in checks from the account of a 95-year-old in Rye she was working as a caregiver for.
Amie Faye, 35, was booked by police on Jan. 29, after Rye detectives discovered that she allegedly wrote multiple checks valued at $9,1000 from her female patient’s account and used the money as her own.
The investigation began in late November once the Rye woman’s family noticed some inconsistencies in her savings account. They alerted the police who then subpoenaed her bank records, police told The Record.
Faye was privately hired by the woman’s family, without going through a caretaker service, according to police. She does not have any prior arrests.
She was released without bail and is scheduled to return to Rye City Court on Feb. 4, where she will face three charges for grand larceny, forgery, and possession of a forged instrument, all felonies.
