Carmel Vacarro Loddo, a longtime resident of Rye, died on Sept. 10. (17 days before her 100th birthday)

Born on Cesario Place in Port Chester, on Sept. 27, 1924, she was the daughter of Leonard and Elizabeth Vacarro.

She was an accomplished quilter, made costumes for the Rye High School Theater Program, and was an active member of the Rye Seniors. She worked annually for the Board of Elections for local and national elections.

Carmel enjoyed relaxing at Rye Beach, and spending time with her senior friends at Rye Golf Club.

After her husband Nicholas retired, they traveled the country in a Chevy Suburban, visiting more than 40 states. They also loved traveling around the world.
