A new Chick-fil-A is opening Thursday in Yonkers as the popular franchise specializing in chicken looks to expand its Westchester footprint.
The fast-food chain’s new location — a drive-thru and the company’s first locally-owned restaurant in the county — opens for business at 2205 Central Park Ave.
“Chick-fil-A is thrilled to open our doors to the first locally owned and operated restaurant in Westchester this Thursday [July 25],” the company said in a statement.
A Chick-fil-A spokesperson told The Record that another dine-in spot is slated to open later this summer at the Midway Shopping Center in Greenburgh/Scarsdale, but didn’t provide a date.
“We saw an opportunity in Westchester County to ensure our guests have the best experience possible by opening two new restaurants – one that is drive-thru focused, and one that is a dine-in experience,” the spokesperson said.
Israel Allmand, a Chick-fil-A employee from the time he was 15, will be the owner of the Yonkers location. Allmand started as a teen at his local branch in Orlando, Florida, before graduating from the University of Central Florida and setting his sight on becoming a local owner-operator, according to the company. He has lived in Yonkers with his wife and daughter for the past three years.
“I want my team and our guests to have amazing experiences at my restaurant, a place where everyone feels restored and refreshed,” Allmand said in the Chick-fil-A announcement.
He’ll be responsible for the daily operations of the new drive-thru spot, including its 100 full- and part-time employees.
Chick-fil-A made headlines recently after a USA Today survey de-throned the chicken empire as the No. 1 fast food restaurant chain in the U.S. That came after the company announced it would be moving away from antibiotic-free chicken because of supply chain issues.
The only Westchester location currently open is located at the Mile 6 service area along I-87 in Hastings-On-Hudson, according to the company’s website.
And while there aren’t any plans for Chick-fil-A locations along the Sound Shore, the company told The Record it’s always researching communities to lay roots in.
“Chick-fil-A is constantly evaluating potential new locations for our restaurant expansion, and Westchester County represents a tremendous opportunity to serve our loyal guests and make a positive impact on local communities,” the company said.
The Yonkers Chick-fil-A drive-thru will be open, beginning Thursday, from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
