Last Sunday, March 4, was the Rev. Kate Malin’s first Sunday in the pulpit of Christ’s Church Rye. She comes to Christ’s Church, as its 31st rector, by way of St. Anne’s in-the-Fields Episcopal Church in Lincoln, Mass., where she has served as rector for close to nine years. Before that, she served as curate and assistant to the rector at Christ Church Bronxville. Rev. Malin received a Master of Divinity from the General Theological Seminary in New York City in 2006, and was ordained to the priesthood in the Diocese of New York in September of that year.
A passionate preacher, she is committed to helping people grow spiritually through living, creative engagement with worship and scripture.
Rev. Malin and her husband, Bruce Smith, a writer and fundraiser who is currently Deputy Director for External Affairs at deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln, Mass., have three children: twins Caleb and Emmie, 20, and Owen, 16.
