The City of Rye released its comprehensive plan volunteer survey, marking the next step in a broad, community-driven effort to shape the city’s future.

The comprehensive plan will serve as a long-range policy document guiding decisions related to land use, infrastructure, sustainability, housing, transportation, and neighborhood character. This will be the first update to Rye’s comprehensive plan in over 40 years.

Following strong interest from residents, the city is asking those interested in participating to complete the brief survey designed to better understand their perspectives, areas of interest, and availability.

“This is about engaging the breadth of the Rye community’s insights, talents, and perspectives,” said Mayor Josh Nathan. “We want to ensure residents who step forward are aligned with the areas and opportunities that best fit their interests and availability.”

The survey asks participants about their connection to Rye, key issues facing the city, preferred topic areas, relevant experience, and availability. The information will be used by city staff and planning consultants to help structure working groups and engagement opportunities throughout the process.

Residents who have already signed up should receive a link to the survey by email.

Residents interested in participating who have not signed up are encouraged to complete the survey at www.ryeny.gov/questionnaire.

The survey will close at 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, May 6.

Volunteers will have opportunities to participate in meetings, working sessions, and community events over the course of the planning process, which is expected to take approximately 18 months.
