Anna Katz moved to Rye only two years ago but she’s already making her mark. On September 13 from 1-3, she’s holding the grand opening of her wellness center, Integrity BodyMind. Having teamed up with Andy’s Pure Food, she will introduce her detox program to the community, while everyone enjoys free samples of raw food, juices, and smoothies.
“I wanted to give people a platform to be supported in their journey to improving their diet, whatever stage they’re at, so they could get the most benefit,” explained Katz, who most recently worked at SanaVita Holistic Health Center in New York City. “After five weeks, they will see an internal shift, physically and mentally.”
The signature of Integrity BodyMind is a 5-Week Alignment Program that combines health, nutritional, raw food, and juice cleansing counseling with colon hydrotherapy and infrared sauna detox. Katz, a board certified Holistic Health Practitioner, will work closely with clients on setting goals and customizing a healthy life style.
Her own journey began many years ago. Having had childhood digestive issues that went undiagnosed, she turned to holistic alternatives at 15 and has been a devotee ever since. In her early 20s, she tried colon hydrotherapy and her symptoms were alleviated. Some years later, she went on to train at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, adding Holistic Health and Nutritional Counselor, Colon Hydrotherapist, and Reiki Master to her list of credentials.
Practicing what she preaches, she adhered to a vegan diet for some time. When she and her husband Greg, a Rye Neck High School alum, moved to Rye from New York City, she was relieved to discover Andy’s Pure Food was at her fingertips. She also loved the fact that in Rye one can be “connected to society, have a professional life, and honor nature as well.”
It seemed natural that Katz should open her center right above Andy’s, with the entrance right next door at 44 Purchase Street. She has spent the last year renovating the space with the help of her sister, an interior designer living in Europe. Creating a tranquil ambiance with feng shui energy, they exposed the wooden floors, painted the walls in greens and lavenders, and decorated with vibrant artwork, eco-friendly rugs, and soft lighting. A soothing entrance divides a counseling/infrared sauna room and the colon hydrotherapy room.
According to Katz, colon hydrotherapy in combination with sound nutrition and controlled juicing, provides a gentle and effective way of enhancing one’s overall health by hydrating and clearing the body of toxins. The infrared sauna is also effective.
Raw foods, too, provide detoxification and healing when introduced appropriately. As far as juicing, she noted, “Juicing, as opposed to water cleansing, is not fasting because you’re absorbing nutrients directly into your bloodstream. Juicing is feasting because it supplies the body with energy.”
Before embarking on any cleanse, Katz strongly recommends working with a professional, who will determine body type and body needs. She utilizes a Bioresonance Scan system to assist her in determining what nutritional approach will be the most beneficial.
“I truly believe in my lifestyle. I walk the walk,” she said. “
