The Nurse Is In

A Greenwich Hospital nurse will be onsite to take blood pressure readings and answer health questions from 9-11 a.m. at the Rye YMCA, and from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Greenwich Library Health Information Center.
Heart Health and Stroke Fair
Wednesday, February 6
Educators, pharmacists, dietitians, holistic practitioners and other hospital staff will be on hand to answer questions and discuss cardiac nutrition, medications, genetic concerns and lifestyle changes to help keep your heart as healthy as possible. The special event, from 8-10:30 a.m. will be held in GH’s Noble Conference Center. Free blood pressure screenings, too.

Serious Illness Support Group
Tuesday, February 5
Designed to be a supportive and educational environment for those with a serious illness, conversations and connections are facilitated by Giesele Castronova, a palliative care social worker. The group meets weekly from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in an eight-week session.

Family Caregiver Support Group

This group provides support for adults who care for a family member with Alzheimer’s disease or other types of dementia. Individuals meet to talk with caregiving peers about common difficulties and challenges. Led by a clinical social worker with expertise in family counseling and caregiver concerns, the group meets from 1-2:15 p.m. at Greenwich Hospital’s Center for Healthy Aging. Group size limited to ten members.

Fertility Issues

Dr. Nora Miller, a reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist, will discuss “The Biological Clock: Take Control of Your Fertility” from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Long Ridge Medical Center, 260 Long Ridge Road, Stamford. Learn why women are choosing to freeze their eggs, who should consider it, and expected success rates.

Women’s Spousal Support Group

This group is designed for women who provide care for a chronically ill spouse. Find new friends, practical information, and emotional support. It also gives caregivers a much-needed break or respite to be with others living with a similar situation. This group meets from 1-2:15 p.m. at the Center for Healthy Aging at Greenwich Hospital. Group size is limited to ten members.
