Following 3.28 inches over the past 24 hours, the Westchester County Health Department on Friday announced the closure of some area beaches for the duration of the weekend.
Coveleigh Club in Rye will be closed until further notice, along with Mamaroneck clubs including Harbor Island Park, Beach Point Club, Orienta Beach Club, and Mamaroneck Beach & Yacht Club.
New Rochelle clubs closed include Hudson Park Beach, Davenport Beach Club, Greentree Country Club, and Surf Club on the Sound.
Beach patrons are advised to avoid the water at these beaches due to bacterial contamination from road runoff into drainage outfalls near these beaches.
Under county health protocols, the beaches listed above must close for one day after half an inch of rain and for two days after one inch of rain. In the event of two or more inches of rain, the length of the closure is to be determined.
