Police activity in Rye saw a decline in November compared to October, according to department data.
Police made three arrests in November, including nabbing a Long Island man in a stolen silver Nissan full of illegal pills, who was caught trespassing on private property on Nov. 4. While the 21-year-old was originally due in court on Nov. 19, the case was adjourned until Christmas Eve, according to a Rye City Court spokesperson.
The number of arrests for the month was down overall from the five police encounters in October.
Cops also made a drunk driving arrest on Nov. 14, following a call about an erratic driver who was operating “a 2024 Volvo in an unsafe manner reportedly traveling on the wrong side of the road,” according to police. The female driver refused a road sobriety test and a chemical test at the police station, police said. Her court date has been adjourned to Jan. 7.
The third arrest was for a driver operating a vehicle without a license on Nov. 14.
Rye police were also involved in a use of force case, according to Rye Lt. Michael Anfuso, when they assisted the New York State Police on Nov. 5 in stopping a vehicle on the southbound side of I-95 and detaining the driver. The vehicle had been allegedly identified in an armed robbery in Philadelphia, a state police spokesperson said.
November saw 2,402 calls for police service, which was down by 343 calls compared to October. Traffic stops also decreased by 12, compared to October, to 144 stops last month.
