Local resident and personal shopper Cynthia Hudson has a knack for style and a finger on the pulse of what is happening: fashion and beauty in particular, but it doesn’t stop there. Since starting her business three years ago, she recently extended her reach through a blog, www.cynthahudsonstyle.com, where women who share her enthusiasm for getting dressed, beautifying, or just staying on top of what’s going on, can do just that.
“Classic with an edge” is how Hudson describes her style, which appeals to women in their mid-30s and up who want to be au courant and age-appropriate. She doesn’t fall for every trend, but she knows how to incorporate any and all of them into wardrobes. “I’m a proponent of dressing to enhance what you’ve already got in your closet to stay current.”
As a working mother of four teenagers, Hudson knows how easy it is for busy women to look their best. “I want to help the mom who has lost a little bit of her mojo and make her feel great,” she said. “A lot of my clients have had their babies and want to re-invent themselves. I listen to their needs, check out what they have. It’s a fun creative process and it is so gratifying seeing the end result — how great they feel.”
In her blog Hudson lists current trends and key pieces she likes, where to find them, and photographs of herself wearing them. This fall, it’s fringe, the jumpsuit, the mini handbag, and berry lips, to name a few.
Hudson hopes to take the intimidation factor out of trendy fashions. Have questions and concerns? Go to her blog in the tab/sidebar, “Ask Cynthia,” and she will do her best to address them.
“I’m all about helping women feel more confident,” said Hudson, who had a successful career in magazine advertising before she had a family and has since found her calling helping women dress for themselves as well as success.
Her business allows her to do what she loves: put together clothes and accessories—styling them — to help women find their own style and fashion inner voice. To watch her doing what she does best, tune into her first RyeTV segment, “Shake it Up,” a head-to-toe makeover with help from Angela’s and Blue Mercury. In her upcoming show, Hudson will show how to update your fall wardrobe, discussing key trend pieces — the duster sweater, the long vest — and bringing in pieces like a flannel top for a more updated casual look. She’ll also demonstrate new ways to incorporate lace or wear a scarf.
In her fashion and beauty blog, Hudson also includes random things she likes and wants to share (in her tab “Stuff”): recipes, events, seasonal ideas, and favorite shops.
She posts to her blog about twice a week and fans that subscribe to it get updates via email. She can also be found on Instagram, twitter. One thing is certain: Cynthia Hudson is well on her way to making more and more women look and feel great.
