Dangerous Design Flaw in Enlarged Fireman’s Circle
On April 1, I was in the passenger seat of a Honda Civic driving north on Milton Road to Grace Church Street when we hit the second, larger abutment of the roundabout by the driveway of the home on the corner of Palisades Road and Grace Church Street.
This is one of the many abutments that protrude onto the road at the roundabout by the enlarged circle. It is very difficult for a driver to see this intrusion in sunshine or in shadow.
Neither the driver nor I was hurt, but her car suffered considerable damage.
The work done on this Rye landmark has made the traffic flow around it very dangerous. I am concerned that emergency vehicles will not be able to navigate the narrowed roads to respond to a crisis. I am also very upset that my Rye tax dollars are supporting something so unsafe.
