The White Plains chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution invites the public to its fall benefit, October 23 from 6-9 at American Yacht Club. The guest speaker is Jennifer Anderson, Assistant Professor of History at the Latin American & Caribbean Studies Center at SUNY Stony Brook and author of “Mahogany: The Cost of Luxury in Early America.” Beneath the polish of this sought-after wood lies a dark history of human and environmental exploitation.
The White Plains DAR Chapter was organized in 1905. All event profits benefit patriotic education, troop support, and historic appreciation.
Tickets to the event are $100. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, drinks, a silent auction and door prizes. Seats are limited. RSVP to Kathleen Hoffer, 1 City Place (#1512), White Plains, NY 10601. Checks should be made payable to White Plains Chapter, NSDAR. For more information, call 967-0013.
