Eileen Barber, formerly of Rye, N.Y., and Port St. Lucie, Fla., passed away on Jan. 20, 2024. She was 87.
Eileen was born on Jan. 7, 1936, in Glasgow, Scotland to James and Ellen Rice. She is survived by her children Ray (Helene) of Belton, Texas, Tim (Mary) of Kinderhook N.Y., Sharon Nocito (Vinnie) of Port St. Lucie, Fla., 10 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and her sister Mary Patrick (Paul) and her nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Raymond, her parents James and Ellen Rice, and brothers Jack, Harry and Jimmy Rice.
Eileen moved to Rye, N.Y. when she was 21 years old as a nanny. She soon met Raymond and married a year later. She was employed in Rye at Lepler Brothers store and Almy & Son. Eileen loved spending time with family, boating, traveling, and, of course, shopping.
Celebration of life will be held June 22 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Rye Fishing Game Club, located at 660 Milton Road in Rye.
