Sterling Park Independent Living residents at The Osborn enjoyed a number of lively events in April.
The month started with a visit by two Clinique makeup artists from Bloomingdale’s, who did makeovers for interested residents one day. Next up was a fashion show by J. McLaughlin, retailers of classic American sportswear and accessories, on April 11. They brought some of their spring line from their Upper East Side store. Five Sterling Park residents — Mrs. Barbara Jackson, Dr. Ruth Ruth, Mrs. Pat Brown, Mrs. Barbara Ucci, and Mrs. Judith Steers — did a beautiful job of modeling them, while 60 of their friends enjoyed the show.
At Founders’ Week festivities, the seniors honored co-founders Miriam A. Osborn and her attorney John W. Sterling. The following week, residents attended the Osborn Artists Showcase and Wine and Cheese reception at the Rye Free Reading Room to celebrate the display of their artwork at the library. They also went on trips to the Hudson River and Frick museums.
The busy month culminated in The Osborn’s celebration of Arbor Day, at which Michael Penziner gave a guided tour of The Osborn Arboretum to residents and the general public.
