In addition to relief efforts around the world for victims of the typhoon that hit the Philippines hard earlier this month is the one started by Ava and Christian Flosse. Their goal may have been smaller than most, but it is just as heartfelt.
One afternoon last week, the siblings collected close to 300 pennies at Osborn School, where Ava is in 4th grade and Christian in 2nd grade. They set up a table — with a little help from their mom, Nicolette — on which they placed a sign and a big plastic bowl and ice bucket.
The monies they raised, thanks to fellow students, who dug deep, and their parents, were sent to the Red Cross.
