More than 500 families headed to the Playland Boardwalk June 3 for Explore-a-thon 2012. The Westchester Children’s Museum’s sixth annual event. for children of all ages presented a marvelous sample of activities that will be available all year long once the museum opens late next year.
At 23 stations (Air, Building, Imagination, Highway, Water, Toddler Park, and Sprinkles) spread out between Rye Town Park and Playland, children built all sorts of things with pipes, flew balsa wood airplanes, experienced a wind tunnel, sculpted with yarn, navigated an obstacle course, played in a pop-up water park, and listened quietly to stories under a tent.
It was a day of great experimentation and inspiration and it gave the community even greater expectations of the museum to come.
