Andrew Kranichfeld, who grew up in Rye and now lives in the Bronx, is the author of a new children’s book, “Karen’s Garden.” The story is a tribute to his late mother, Karen, who lost her life to cancer in 2010, and her beautiful garden.
The 28-year-old author hopes Karen’s story will inspire young people to dig and create their own gardens. “Getting young people interested in gardening and eating a healthy diet was a major goal of the book,” he said.
Kranichfeld, a cancer survivor who is blind, also hopes to inspire other people with disabilities to follow their dreams, no matter how hard they seem.
