Former Rye Resident and Decorated Golfer Passes Away at 72

Maryanne Bardwil Lynch, 72, of Harrison, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Sept. 2, 2025, surrounded by her adoring family.

Born in New York City, Maryanne was raised in Rye, alongside her six siblings. She attended Resurrection School, Sacred Heart Greenwich, and Stonehill College, where she met her devoted husband, Kevin. They married in 1978 before she embarked on successful sales careers at Xerox and Gartner.

Maryanne made a significant impact in every community endeavor she took on. She never took “no” for an answer and always made those around her feel included, valued, and celebrated.

At The Apawamis Club, Maryanne was honored to serve as one of the first two women appointed to the board of governors. A passionate and formidable golfer, she earned nine Ladies’ Club Championship titles, along with numerous other regional honors. She also served as president of the Women’s Westchester Fairfield Golf Association and head coach of Rye Country Day School boys’ varsity golf team.

Above all, Maryanne’s greatest love and joy was her family. She is survived by her husband, Kevin; her daughters, Jennifer Amantea (Christian) and Stephanie Williams (Jay); and her adored grandchildren, CJ and Luke Amantea, and James and Grace Williams.

Maryanne’s memory is lovingly carried forward by her sisters, Catherine Burke (Ray), Susan Bragg (Tim), Nancy Wells (Doug), Patricia Dudzik (John), and Elizabeth Bardwil; her sister-in-law, Jane Lynch; and her many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Nadia Bardwil Gerrity and Ameen G. Bardwil, and her brother, James A. Bardwil.

The Lynch family extends heartfelt thanks to the incredible family, friends, and caregivers who supported Maryanne through her courageous five-year battle with cancer. Maryanne’s legacy will forever be one of service, friendship, and boundless generosity. She will be deeply missed and always remembered.

A casual gathering of family and friends will be held from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at Shenorock Shore Club. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12 at Church of the Resurrection, with a celebration of Maryanne’s life to follow at The Apawamis Club. The Mass will be live-streamed on the Church of the Resurrection website.

To honor Maryanne’s memory, the Maryanne Lynch Legacy Fund has been established to continue her lifelong dedication to community, Catholic education, and compassionate giving. Those who wish to celebrate her life and legacy are invited to contribute to the fund, created to help carry forward the values she held dear.
